This Working Group aims to develop tools for the ARTEM-IS standard for electrophysiological methods reporting. ARTEM-IS stands for an Agreed Reporting Template for EEG Methodology - International Standard. Accurate reporting is critical for transparent, reproducible, replicable research in the scientific record, and allows advanced forms of meta-science to be conducted. 
Systematic reviews of EEG literature have highlighted specific and actionable weaknesses in the way that methods are typically reported - in particular, a lack of specificity about individual methodological decisions in the methods sections of journal articles. This challenge can be addressed by designing tools that facilitate detailed methodology documentation, where the structure of the tool helps to reduce errors, ambiguities and omissions in reporting. This outcome will be achieved more effectively through the collaborative action of EEG stakeholders, so that the tools are designed to maximise ease of use, clarity and specificity.
Monthly virtual meetings. Work coordination and work in subgroups will take place on an agreed online collaboration platform (e.g., Discord, Mattermost) and in a Neurostars group. The group also has a mailing list and will hold hackathons at relevant conferences.

The goal of the ARTEM-IS working group is to use insights derived from systematic reviews to create human-user friendly, machine-readable templates for documenting the methodological details of an EEG study or pipeline, and to build these templates into usable tools.
- A human-readable template for description of a study, as would be suitable for submission as a supplementary document at the time of journal article submission, or alongside a preregistration (expected)
- App functionality to allow export of a completed template into the following (expected):
- A machine-readable data file
- A human-readable output
- App functionality to allow import of previously filled template information (e.g., Equipment fields from an equipment vendor; a research team’s standard operating procedure; expected)
- App-integrated ‘help’ functions (expected)
- Guidance to support a user in completing the template (expected)
- Standalone explanation & elaboration documents (expected)
- Training materials for researchers new to the field of EEG (expected)
