Postdoctoral Scholar - Keator Laboratory

27 August 2019

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the Keator lab in the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine campus. The lab is a multi-disciplinary environment focused in three principle domains: (1) Identifying brain-based biomarkers of dementia; (2) The development of advanced machine learning models for problems in neuroimaging and medicine; (3) Developing biomedical informatics tools and techniques for structured data exchange and reproducibility in neuroimaging. The scholar will participate in a newly funded project to develop human neuroimaging domain-specific controlled vocabularies developed through community engagement and to provide tools for their use within the BIDS, OpenNeuro, and BRAIN Initiative human neuroscience ecosystems. These developments will greatly improve the field’s ability to search across datasets, reuse data, and replicate neuroscience findings. The scholar will gain valuable experience in using semantic web techniques in neuroimaging-based neuroscience research and perform scholarly work in an international collaborative environment focused on open science.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have a PhD with research experience relevant to our research interest and be an individual who can work independently within a collaborative team environment of researchers and students. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in neuroinformatics research, as well as experience in neuroimaging and familiarity with modern neuroinformatics and Python coding techniques. Experience with Linked Data / Semantic Web techniques is a plus.
