EuroSPIN ("European Study Programme In Neuroinformatics") is an interdisciplinary PhD programme in Neuroinformatics, including Computational Neuroscience. Each student will spend most of his or her time at two partner universities, and will receive a joint PhD degree following the successful completion of studies. Each student's training and coursework is tailored individually based on: a) the student's background; b) which constellations of partners are involved, and c) the specific research project. During the PhD period, each student has a supervisor from each of the two universities granting the PhD degree.
Although the students will spend most of their study time at two universities, they will have visited all institutions during an annual workshop that alternates location among the partner sites.
In addition to training within the field of Neuroinformatics, all EuroSPIN students are offered training in secondary skills. The instruction language of the programme is English and English scientific writing courses are provided, as well as local language courses.
The four academic partners of EuroSPIN:
- KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
- University of Edinburgh (UoE), UK
- National Centre for Biological Science (NCBS), India
- Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (ALUF), Germany
Two industry partners, the Honda Research Institute and Nordita, also participate.
