This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB).
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will serve as the Director, Division of Health Informatics (DHI). The DHI is newly organized, comprised of 3 to 4 full time scientific staff members. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
· Provide scientific leadership to DHI and insure that activities and supported research advance the mission of NIBIB in the most efficient way possible.
· Participate in and contribute to NIBIB-wide, NIH-wide, and government agency-wide committees and other activities focused on advancing research in the areas of health IT, bioinformatics, and telehealth.
· Leading and mentoring DHI staff and supervising the operation of division.
· Prioritize NIBIB DHI research in light of related research and that supported by other government agencies and private organizations, leading to better allocation and sharing of funding responsibility.
· Provide expert and critical advice on health informatics and mobile health to the NIBIB Associate Director for Extramural Science Programs (DESP) to support planning, policy development, and operating procedures.
