Large-Scale Modeling
This program was launched following the recommendations of the 1st INCF Workshop on Large-Scale Modeling of the Nervous System.
Large-scale modeling is an increasingly important tool in neuroscience research. As computational modeling techniques become integrated with experimental neuroscience, more knowledge can be extracted from existing experimental data. Quantitative models assist in generating experimentally testable hypotheses and in selecting informative experiments. Therefore, large-scale models are becoming an essential tool in bridging multiple levels of organization in the description and understanding of the nervous system.
Building on the recommendations from the workshop report, the INCF is focusing on actions directly supporting the large-scale modeling community or contributing to improvements of scientific infrastructure.
Current activities within the Program on Large-Scale Modeling:
- MUSIC - MUlti-SImulation Coordinator
- Standards and Guidelines for Large-Scale Modeling (in preparation)
- Blue Gene supercomputer access (in preparation)
