Join the INCF Secretariat at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility is an OECD-launched international organization, which coordinates standards for neuroscience including an international collaborative research data infrastructure. The Secretariat is now looking for 1-2 systems/cloud administrators. The ideal candidate will provide expertise in the development and deployment of critical mission and support systems. Duties will span coordination of systems, networks, facilities, and security assessments and a research infrastructure across at least 17 countries.
The candidate will be responsible for systems administration for the INCF Secretariat and coordinating, monitoring and supporting a large-scale data federation employing Amazon services.
Area of responsibilities/duties
- Perform a wide range of system administration duties at the INCF Secretariat
- Oversee and maintain all internal IT infrastructure and anticipate future needs
- Monitor, support and extend international federated data infrastructure based in Amazon cloud
- Work with IT contractors and pro-actively monitor services provided by them
- Perform development work and installation of new services
The position is full-time, based at Karolinska Institute with an 18 month contract and the possibility for prolongation for the right candidate.
BS and 5 years of related experience or MS and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 1 year of related experience
Education/Experience M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and/or related technical discipline. 5+ years experience in a technical field.
Python, Amazon Web Services (EC2,S3), iRODS, Java, Linked Data, Macintosh, Unix/Linux and Windows, SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, or others), and third-party applications
Development experience with Python and/or Java
Experience in one or more scripting languages (Python, PHP, Ruby,Perl, etc.).
Experience with large data sets/analysis, Hadoop, scientific computing.
We are looking for a friendly, positive and service-oriented individual with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. The candidate needs excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
This position may require overnight travel up to 10% of the time and involve some irregular working hours due to collaboration in different time-zones.
